How to Get the Best Possible Score in Solitaire

By Neal Taparia - 08/08/2023

On Solitaired, you can play solitaire against other players by competing in our global leaderboards. We give you a score based on total moves and time spent playing the game which you can compare to other players. The lower the score, the better!

Many times, we get questions on how it's possible to get such a low score or time, or how someone can complete a game in so few moves. Here is how you can improve your score:

1. Use shortcuts

On Solitaired, you can use shortcuts to make moves in the game:

  • Space bar moves cards from the stock pile.
  • "S" will automatically move a card that is playable. For example, it will move an Ace to the foundation.
  • "A" undos moves which is helpful if you get stuck.
  • "D" redos moves if you need to go back to a previous state after undoing.
  • "H" and "?" will bring up the short cut menu.

Memorizing these shortcuts will allow you to make moves much faster if you're playing on your desktop computer, helping you improve your score.

2. Learn strategy

There are various strategies that can help you win solitaire. For example, focusing on removing the cards from the longer columns will generally help you advance in the game. Read our quick strategy guide for tips, or our comprehensive strategy guide to become an expert.

3. Learn from the best

Did you know you can watch replays on Solitaired? After you complete a game, you'll see a link on the congrats modal where you can watch a replay. Learn from your successful moves to beat your own time.

In addition, you can see how the best players won. On the leaderboard, scroll down to Solitaire Turn 1 and Solitaire Turn 3 and click the green "Watch Replay" button. You'll see how fast these players move and what their strategy looks like.
