Solitaire Games That Highlight Notable Women for Women’s History Month

As part of Women’s History Month, we wanted to do something unique and relevant to solitaire to celebrate pioneering women.

We put together two games, with each card showing an individual of significance. One is about notable women in history. It includes fascinating figures like:

  • Rosa Parks, who sparked the civil rights movement by refusing to sit in the back of a racially segregated bus
  • Amelia Earhart, who bravely was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean solo
  • Sacagawea, who was critical to the Lewis and Clark expedition as they traveled across the American frontier

The other solitaire game we put together is about notable women in technology. We created this with the permission of the Notable Women in Tech Cards project run by Katy Dickinson, Susan Rodger, and Jessica Goodman. The cards and solitaire game highlight female individuals with incredible accomplishments. The game includes:

  • Grace Hopper, the first woman to get a Ph.D. in mathematics and worked with the earliest computers
  • Ada Lovelace, a British mathematician, and the world’s first computer programmer
  • Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman to go to space

We hope you enjoy these games as well as the figures highlighted in the game. You can play with these decks on our Spider and Freecell games. We’d love it if you can share these games as a way to celebrate and promote awareness of Women’s History Month.
