Play Yahtzee Online

Yahtzee is the classic dice game where you roll five dice up to three times each turn to complete combinations on your scorecard. On Solitaired you can jump straight into single-player practice or challenge friends in multiplayer without downloads.

How to Play Yahtzee

  1. Roll all five dice. After the first and second roll you may hold any dice and reroll the rest. You get up to three rolls per turn.
  2. Choose a category from the scorecard and record the points for your final combination. Each category can only be used once.
  3. After 13 rounds total the upper section bonus, lower section combos, and any Yahtzee bonuses. The player with the highest score wins.

Yahtzee Scorecard Categories

  • Ones-Sixes: Add the matching dice. Reach 63 points across the six boxes to earn a 35-point bonus.
  • Three/Four of a Kind: Score the total of all dice when you have at least three or four matching dice.
  • Full House: Three of one number plus a pair scores 25 points.
  • Small Straight: Four sequential numbers (like 2-3-4-5) score 30 points.
  • Large Straight: Five sequential numbers (1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6) score 40 points.
  • Yahtzee: Five of a kind is worth 50 points. Additional Yahtzees award bonus points and let you fill an extra box.
  • Chance: Take the sum of all five dice when nothing else fits.

Strategy Tips

  • Prioritize filling the upper section early so you stay on pace for the 63-point bonus.
  • Hold onto high-value combinations such as Full House or Straights until you are confident in the roll.
  • Use Chance to avoid writing a zero in a premium box, especially late in the game.
  • When you land an extra Yahtzee, use the forced placement rules to maximize your bonus points.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many dice are in Yahtzee? Every turn uses five standard six-sided dice. You may keep any number of dice between rolls.

How do multiplayer games work? Create a room, invite friends with a link, and race to the highest total while the scorecard updates live.

What happens if I cannot score in a category? You must record a zero in an unused box, so plan ahead to save difficult categories like Large Straight or Yahtzee.
